DC-area forecast: Pleasantly warm and dry at least tomorrow

0

A somewhat subjective assessment of today’s weather on a scale from 0 to 10.

10/10: Wow, another Sunday, another taste of perfection. Enjoy comfortable warmth thanks to dry air – dew points in the 40s to near 50. Good weather!

  • Today: Blue sky, warm, a little windy. Highs: Upper 70s to low 80s.
  • Tonight: Clear and less windy. Lower: Mid 50s to near 60.
  • Tomorrow: A few afternoon clouds, still warm. Height: 78 to 83.

Perhaps we have earned today’s perfection. It will no doubt last into tomorrow, with just a few more clouds (but a lower breeze level is a good trade-off). The heat may randomly drop a bit over time this week. Chances of rain look pretty slim by midweek.

Tomorrow (Monday): This could be the hottest day of the work week, with highs around 80 to maybe a few mid-80s south of the city in the sunniest spots. As a light but steady easterly wind picks up during the afternoon, an increase in clouds is possible off the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Skies may remain partly cloudy as easterly breezes slowly diminish. Low temperatures should bottom out in the 50s for nearly everyone in the region. Confidence: Medium-High

Any early clouds should clear quickly Tuesday with lots of sunshine in general. We aim to warm to the mid to upper 70s with an afternoon breeze picking up a bit from the east. If we can somehow eliminate the late easterly breeze, we might have a chance at 80 degrees. As it stands now, the 70s are more likely. Confidence: Medium-High

Mostly sunny skies and light winds are likely Wednesday as we warm back up a half notch, toward the upper 70s to low 80s for high temperatures. A short pop-up shower late in the day is not impossible, but so far the chances are slim. Confidence: Medium
